Nilphamari

Nilphamari district is one of the ancient localities of primitive civilization of Bangladesh. Nilphamari is situated in Northern part of Bangladesh. It is a part of the Rangpur division. At the time of British period Nil cultivation was famous here. The name has come from there. The town stands on the bank of the Tista River. The Nilphamari subdivision was established in 1875 and was turned into a district in 1984. It is renowned for some of the tourist resorts like Nil-Sagor, Tista Baradge, Uttara EPZ. There is an airport in Syedpur.
